Captains Renew Agreement With WELW

The Lake County Captains, the 2010 Midwest League Champions and Class A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians and AM 1330 WELW have reached an agreement to keep the station as their flagship radio home for the next three years. WELW has been the flagship for all but one of the Captains seasons. The station will air all regular and post-season Captains games with the exception of Sunday games.

ESPN 970 WFUN will be an affiliate station on the Captains Radio Network and will carry all Sunday games and other select games.

"We are very excited to continue our relationship with WELW for years to come. This has always been a great partnership and look forward to it continuing", said Brad Seymour, Captains vice president and general manager.

Craig Deas will return as the "Voice of the Captains." Deas is in his ninth year with the franchise and will call all the home games and select road games. Brian LaRiche will return to handle the majority of the road games as well as joining Deas in the booth for home games.

"We are proud to make this continued commitment for the next three years. Our listeners tell us they enjoy hearing Captains Baseball on radio – while at the ballpark, at home or on the road," WELW general manager Ray Somich said. "We also know that we have a significant local and national on-line audience of baseball fans, families and friends who follow their favorite young college and high school stars. All-in-all, we're grateful to be in a position where we can add this real value…free quality entertainment to our community."
