Outfielder Zach Collier had a big day for the Peoria Javelinas on Opening Day in the Arizona Fall League. The 22-year old had two hits as Peoria downed Surprise 5-2.

Zach Collier enters the Arizona Fall League season needing to show a little something special. After being suspended for 50 games for violating the MLB substance abuse policy, Collier is looking for some redemption in the desert.

On Tuesday, Collier started to get some of that redemption with two hits, an RBI and a run scored as the Javelinas downed the Surprise Saguaros 5-2 in the first game of the season for both teams.

Collier singled with two outs in the bottom of the fourth to drive in Reds prospect Donald Lutz and give Peoria a 2-0 lead.

Another Phillies prospect, catcher Tommy Joseph also picked up a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the sixth, again driving in Lutz as Peoria extended their lead to 3-0.

Third base prospect Cody Asche played for Peoria, but went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.
