MadFriars' Daily Farm Report: June 27

Zach Eflin got the win in Fort Wayne.

Tucson Padres sweep a double-header and move into first place in the PCL for the first time in their existence.

Game 1: Colorado Springs Sky Sox 4 – Tucson Padres 7

Key Statistics LHP Colt Hynes 1.2 IP, 0 H, 3 K (S, 4, 1.95 ERA); RF Dan Robertson 2-4, 2 RS, BB; 2B. Jonathan Galvez 2-3, HR (6), 2 RBI

Game 2: Colorado Springs SkySox 4 – Tucson Padres 5

Key Statistics RHP Kevin Quackenbush 2 IP, H, ER, 2 BB, K; 3B Gregorio Petit 3-4, 3B, 2 RS, RBI; 1B Cody Decker 2-4, 2B, RBI.

Prospect Watch: Tucson Padres swept a double- header despite not having a true starter in either game. Prior to today's game, Dan Robertson had been hitting .180 over the last two weeks with zero extra base hits. The one saving grace for Robertson is that he still makes excellent contact, striking out only 39 times in 73 games this season… Kevin Quackenbush has allowed at least one earned run in three of his five AAA outings.

San Antonio Missions 2 – Tulsa Drillers 4

Key Statistics RHP Matt Wisler 6 IP, 6 H, ER, 0 BB, 8 Ks; 2B Cory Spangenberg 2-2, RS, BB, SB (5); Rico Noel 1-2, RS, 2 BB, 2 CS (8).

Prospect Watch: A great start by Matt Wisler was ruined when Matt Lollis could not hold the lead in the ninth. Wisler's eight strikeouts was a season high and it was the third time in nine starts that he did not walk a batter.

Lake Elsinore Storm 3 – Inland Empire 66ers 5

Key Statistics RHP Trevor Holder 5 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 6 K; CF Travis Jankowski 2-5, HR (1), 2 RBI; SS Jace Peterson 2-4, 2 RS, HR (5), RBI.

Prospect Watch: Travis Jankowski hit his first home-run of the year, and his second in his minor league career. While the outstanding defensive centerfielder is not known for his power, his slugging percentage has gone up over 200 points in the last month (.270 SLG in May, .494 in June).

Lansing Lugnuts 1 – Fort Wayne TinCaps 8

Key Statistics RHP Zach Eflin 5 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 K (W, 4-4, 3.31 ERA); C Dane Phillips 3-3, 2 RS, 2B, BB; LF Luis Domoromo 3-4, 2 3B, 3 RBI.

Prospect Watch: Scary moment early in the game. TinCaps CF Alberth Martinez was wheeled out of the game after being hit in the cheek by a pitch. No word yet on his condition… After struggling early in the year Zach Eflin has come into his own. Eflin has allowed two or fewer runs in each of his last ten starts, going 4-2 with a 2.33 ERA.

For further reading on the TinCaps' please see the Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette.

Eugene Emeralds 3 – Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 9

Key Stats: RHP Michael Kelly 2.2 IP, H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 4 K; RF Henry Charles 2-3, 2B, RS, RBI; 3 B Fernando Perez 1-4, RS, 2 K.

Prospect Watch: Kelly, a supplemental first round pick in 2011, made his debut in Eugene. He has great stuff, the problem is with his command. He was 2-1 with a 5.00 ERA in Fort Wayne.

AZL Rangers 12 – AZL Padres 11

Key Stats: DH Tommy Medica 0-3, BB, RS, 2 K; RF Jose Urena 3-5, 3B, HR (2), 2 RS, 2 RBI; CF Malquiel Brito 3-4, 3B, 2 RS, 2 RBI.
