Carmona And Brown Sent Back To Minors

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- Right-handers Fausto Carmona and Andrew Brown, both of whom had impressive stints this spring, were sent to Class AAA Buffalo today by the Indians.

Carmona went 1-0 with a 0.75 ERA in four exhibition games, including two starts. In 12 innings overall, he allowed 13 hits and only two runs, striking out eight without issuing a walk.

"Fausto has been very impressive," said manager Eric Wedge. "He's probably earned the first shot at a rotation spot should something happen to one of our five starters."

Brown had no record, one save and a 3.86 ERA in six appearances. In seven innings, he gave up seven hits, three earned runs, four walks and struck out seven.

"Andrew threw the ball very well and I would think that he and Fausto will contribute to the major league team at some point this season," general manager Mark Shapiro said.

The moves left Cleveland with 38 players in its major league camp.
