There's nothing like being at Indians spring training to get the full effect of the beauty of baseball under the warm sun. Reporters write of a left-hander working on a new pitch, an infielder taking hundreds of ground balls, or a slugger toiling for hours in the batting cage -- but there's so much more. From sunup to sundown, there seems to be some sort of activity at the Tribe's training camp.
If a picture is worth a thousand words ... then a few photos, courtesy of David J. Phillip of
The Associated Press
are worth so much more. Let's take a look at the Tribe's training camp in recent days:
Travis Hafner
signs autographs near the Indians' bullpen down the right-field line at Chain of Lakes Park.
For fans who complain the Indians do not practice bunting -- rest assured that even sluggers like young
Ryan Garko
work on it daily.
One of the great treats of attending spring training is seeing baseball heroes of the past as well as today's stars and future prospects. Hall of Famers Bob Feller of the Indians and Yogi Berra of the Yankees always get together under the Florida sun to share some memories.
