Wedge To Lead Winter Press Tour

Eric Wedge ... set for seventh year in Cleveland.

Winter is two days old, the wind chill was minus 25 on Sunday night in the Cleveland area, but a sure sign of spring is not far away. The Indians' annual press tour will start in less than a month. Manager Eric Wedge, selected players and coaches and a couple members of the Tribe broadcast team will visit 14 towns in four days. Fans will be able to find out the team's plans for the 2009 season.

There will be three caravans, each named after a legendary Indians player, travelling to towns throughout northeastern Ohio. Members of the Larry Doby Tour, Lou Boudreau Tour and Mel Harder Tour will be announced soon by the organization.

The Larry Doby group will visit Columbus on Jan. 19, go to Youngstown the next night, then on to Ashtabula and finish with a dinner in Akron on Jan. 22.

The Lou Boudreau group will start out at Cleveland suburb to be determined, move on to Dover on Jan. 20, then to Canton and will make two stops on Jan. 22, in Toledo and Elyria.

The Mel Harder group will start out in Sandusky, go to Erie, Pa., then to Mansfield, and conclude with two stops on Jan. 22, in Fostoria and Medina.

Exact times and locations will be announced here -- after the Indians finalize them.
