Indians' Top Prospects: No. 63

Cirilo Cumberbatch

For each of the past 15 years, Indians Ink Magazine has ranked the top prospects in the Cleveland farm system. It began as a top 10 list and turned into a top 50 early this decade. This is our third year ranking the top 100 Tribe minor-leaguers. It factors a player's potential, accomplishments, how he's moved in the system, and projects it to what he could bring to the major-league team.

No. 63 -- Cirilo Cumberbatch

The Cirilo Cumberbatch File
Born:
July 11 ,1986 in Panama City, PN
Position: Outfielder
B/T: B/R
HT/WT: 6-2/185
Acquired: Signed as a non-drafted free agent, July 4, 2003.
Strengths: Good fielder with decent arm, athleticism. Best suited for right field, but hasn't provided power expected at that position. Shows flashes of offense, can drive ball into the gaps and take an extra base.
Weaknesses: After hitting .300 at Lake County in 2007, returned to old ways and showed poor plate discipline (.236 at Kinston). Hit only .218 against right-handers and was susceptible to breaking stuff and change of speeds. Must take the ball up the middle.
2009 Projection: Back to Kinston.
