Hafner Not Sharp In Minor-League Game

Travis Hafner got plenty of at-bats Sunday while playing for Triple-A Columbus in a minor-league game at the Indians' camp in Goodyear, Ariz. All he had to show for it was a walk and one well-lined single. Otherwise, his timing looked off and as a result he swung at some bad pitches, resulting in two strikeouts. Cleveland's minor-league clubs played farm teams from the Chicago White Sox system.

In an agreement between the teams, Travis Hafner was permitted to bat once in each of the first six innings. He walked his first time up, then grounded out directly to the second baseman. He lined a sharp single to right field for his only hit of the day. The next time up, he fouled off a waist-high fastball on the inside corner -- the type of pitch he loves to crush.
