Indians' Top Prospects: No. 10

Beau Mills

For each of the past 15 years, Indians Ink Magazine has ranked the top prospects in the Cleveland farm system. It began as a top 10 list and turned into a top 50 early this decade. This is our third year ranking the top 100 Tribe minor-leaguers. It factors a player's potential, accomplishments, how he's moved in the system, and projects it to what he could bring to the major-league team.

No. 10 -- Beau Mills

The Beau Mills File

Born:
Aug. 15, 1986 in Visalia, CA
Position: Corner Infielder
B/T: L/R
HT/WT: 6-3/220
Acquired: First-round draft pick (13th overall) in 2007 from Lewis-Clark State.
Strengths: Had an MVP season at Kinston, where he enjoyed excellent production (21 homers, 90 RBI) while hitting a solid .293. Great swing. Has excellent bat speed. Beau knows baseball, thanks to his growing up in a baseball family. Has what it takes to develop into a team leader.
Weaknesses: Still working to become a top-notch first baseman, having just recently made the transition from third base. Just needs experience.
2009 Projection: Will likely hit in the middle or order and be everyday first baseman at Akron, but could also see some limited action at third.
