Indians Call Up Three From Columbus

The Indians added three players from their Triple-A farm team in Columbus today. Called up was right-hander Carlos Carrasco, who is scheduled to make his major-league debut tonight in Detroit against the Tigers. Outfielder Michael Brantley and right-handed reliever Jose Veras had their contracts purchased from the Clippers. Brantley will be making his big-league debut whenever he gets into a game.

The team also announced that Dave Miller, the organization's minor-league pitching coordinator, will be joining the coaching staff. Carrasco, 22, was acquired from the Philadelphia Phillies on July 29 as part of a six-player trade that sent 2008 AL Cy Young winner Cliff Lee and outfielder Ben Francisco to the reigning...
