The Indians have announced their 2010 regular season schedule. Cleveland will open its 110th season in the American League in Chicago against the White Sox on Monday, April 5 as part of a six-game trip that includes three games in Detroit. Cleveland's home opener will be Monday, April 12, against the Texas Rangers. That starts a six-game homestand that includes three games with the White Sox.
Some highlights of the 2010 Indians Schedule:
** Popular AL East opponents Boston and New York each make one trip of four games to Progressive Field. The Red Sox will be in town for a four-game series Monday through Thursday, June 7-10 and the Yankees come in for a four-game series Monday through Thursday, July 26-29.
** The Tribe will play 31 of its final 44 games against AL Central Division rivals, including the final 16.
** There will be 58 games played at Progressive Field from Memorial Day (Monday, May 31) to the end of the season, including seven summer weekends (there were 51 home games during this period in 2008 and 63 in 2009).
** The Indians have only seven home games in the month of April.
** Home Games By Month: April, 7; May, 16; June, 13; July, 14; August, 17; September, 14.
** The final homestand consists of seven games against Central Division rivals Kansas City (Sept. 23-26) and Detroit (Sept. 27-29).
** The regular season will conclude with a three-game road series at the Chicago White Sox (October 1-3).
** Interleague play will feature visits to Progressive Field by the New York Mets, Washington Nationals and Cincinnati Reds. The Indians will travel to the Philadelphia Phillies, Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates.
