Three dozen players from the Indians farm system will be playing this fall and winter in various leagues. Also, two members of the team's player development system will be serving as a manager and hitting coach for Caracas in the Venezuelan Winter League. Dave Hudgens, the Tribe's minor-league field coordinator, will manage and Columbus hitting coach Jon Nunnally will serve in that capacity.

They will have with them five of the nine players from the organization slated to play in Venezuela, including first baseman-outfielder Jordan Brown, who won the 2009 Triple-A International League batting title with Columbus. He hit .336 and had a .532 slugging percentage, which ranked third in the league. Also heading to Caracas are right-hander Hector Rondon, shortstop Carlos Rivero, and infielders Cristo Arnal and Karexon Sanchez.

Also playing in Venezuela will be right-hander Steven Wright and infielder Niuman Romero for Caribes de Oriente; right-hander Johan Pino for Tigres de Aragua and infielder Luis Valbuena for Cardenales de Lara.

Going to the Dominican Republic will be infielder Andy Marte and outfielder Jose Constanza for Azucareros del Este; right-hander Frank Herrmann for Aguilas; left-hander Juan Lara for Las Estrellas Orientales; and outfielder Lucas Montero for Gigantes de San Francisco.

Third baseman Giovanny Urshela will play for Cartegna in Colombia and outfielder Roman Pena will go back to Mexico and play, though his team has yet to be determined.

Headed to Mayaguez of the Puerto Rican Winter League are right-hander Neil Wagner and catcher Roberto Perez.

Seventeen others will play out of the Indians' training site in Goodyear, Ariz. Seven of them will be in the Arizona Fall League: right-handers Zach Putnam, Carlton Smith, Josh Judy and Connor Graham; outfielder Nick Weglarz; outfielder-first baseman Matt McBride; and shortstop Rivero, who will then go to Venezuela and keep playing.

Participating in the Arizona Parallel League are right-handers Rob Bryson, Dave Roberts, Joey Mahalic and Michael Pontius; lefty Chris Jones; catcher Alex Castillo; infielder-outfielder Adam Davis; first baseman Beau Mills; and outfielders Matt Brown and Tim Fedroff.

Only four of the players are currently on the Indians' 40-man major-league roster: Valbuena, Marte, Romero and Rondon.
