Michael Brantley plays as advertised. Part of the trade that sent CC Sabathia from the Indians in July 2008, the young outfielder is poised and polished. He recently won a job on the Indians' 25-man roster and general manager Mark Shapiro said it wasn't a token promotion. "He will play," Shapiro said. Brantley brings needed speed to the Indians lineup, along with a good glove in left field.

Michael Brantley's 2009 numbers at Class AAA Columbus, aside from his 46 stolen bases and 80 runs scored, would hardly make you do a double take. A .267 batting average, six homers, 37 RBI and just a .350 on-base percentage would not often get you a late-season call-up to the majors.
