BUFFALO (63-63, 4th Place, 8.5 GB, 5.5 GBWC): The Bisons did not play on Thursday and lost 8-2 to Syracuse on Friday. Lance Caraccioli (4-7, 5.40) allowed three runs in 4.2 innings to take the loss. Jose Santiago was pounded for five runs in 1.2 innings of relief. Nick Bierbrodt tossed two scoreless frames. Maicer Izturis (.252) and Mark Little had a pair of hits for the Bisons. Chris Magruder doubled.

AKRON (80-47, 1st Place, 10.0 GA): The Aeros rallied with two runs in the top of the 9th inning for a 5-4 victory over Harrisburg on Thursday. Eric Crozier had three hits while Joe Inglett and Luke Scott both doubled, singled, and walked. Francisco Cruceta (3.27) allowed four runs (three earned) in seen inning on eight hits and two walks. He did not strike out a batter. Kazuhito Tadano (3-1, 1.49) was credited with the win in relief after not allowed a run in one frame while Fernando Cabrera notched his first save with a scoreless final inning. Hector Luna, Nate Grindell, and Luke Scott committed errors.

The Aeros clinched a spot in the Eastern League Playoffs with a 10-1 victory over Altoona last night at Canal Park. Kyle Denney (2.42) and Kenny Rayborn (3-0, 1.05) each worked four scoreless innings. Luke Scott (#6) and Corey Smith (#8) both homered and singled. Grady Sizemore tripled, walked twice, and was hit by a pitch. Luis Gonzalez and Hector Luna had a pair of hits. Brian Luderer doubled and singled. Joe Inglett (.309) singled twice and doubled. Smith committed his 41st error in the field.

KINSTON (30-24, 1st Place, 2.5 GA): The K-Tribe defeated Frederick 6-3 on Thursday. Jake Dittler (3-1, 3.71) allowed just two earned runs (three total) in six innings for the win, permitting eight hits and a walk while striking out three. Lee Gronkiewicz recorded his 33rd save in the 9th inning. Wily Taveras had three hits while JJ Sherrill, Matt Knox, and Rodney Choy Foo had two hits apiece. Dave Wallace belted his second homerun. Eider Torres doubled and singled. Knox and Wallace committed errors.

The K-Tribe won their third in a row on Friday with a 4-3 win in Frederick. Matt Knox and Rodney Choy Foo drove in runs in the top of the 8th inning to key the victory. Choy, Wallace, and Wily Taveras had two hits apiece for the Indians. Victor Kliene tossed five innings of shutout ball before allowing two runs in the 6th. Marcos Mendoza picked up the win in relief while Lee Gronkiewicz struck out two in the 9th for his league-leading 34th save.

LAKE COUNTY (37-16, 1st Place, 5.0 GA): The Captains did not play on Thursday and returned home on Friday with a 4-3 victory over Kannapolis. Nathan Panther (.287) homered (#12) and doubled. Shaun Larkin (.269) also homered (#16). Michael Aubrey (.329) had two hits while Chris De La Cruz (.259) singled twice and stole a base. Jim Warden permitted just one earned (two total) in five innings on the mound, scattering three this and three walks while striking out six. Shea Douglas (5-3, 1.53) was credited with the win in relief after 2.2 scoreless innings while Kevin Martin recorded his second save despite allowing a run in one frame.

MAHONING VALLEY (27-31, 2nd Place, 18.5 GB): Three Scrappers hurlers combined to hold New Jersey to one run on Thursday in the Scrappers 5-1 victory. Roger Lincoln (2.73) was touched for the only one run allowed in his four innings on the hill. Matt Davis (4-3, 1.25) was credited with the win after striking out four in three hitless innings of relief. Dan Rich (1.69) worked a final two scoreless frames. Kevin Kouzmanoff belted a solo homerun (#6). Ryan Mulhern, Cesar Suarez, and Mike Conroy had two hits apiece. Mulhern's included his 20th double of the season.

The Scrappers lost 6-3 to Tri-City on Friday. Adam Brandenburg (1-4, 5.13) took the loss after five runs in four innings on seven hits. Honeudis Pereyra fanned five in three innings of one-hit relief. Brad Snyder (.255) doubled. Kevin Kouzmanoff (.301), Ryan Mulhern (.282), and Ryan Garko singled. Jonathan Van Every doubled.

BURLINGTON (31-27, 3rd Place, 5.0 GB): The B-Tribe lost 4-3 to Danville on Thursday. Nelson Hiraldo (6-1, 3.81) suffered his first loss against six victories after allowing four runs (three earned) in five innings. Edward Mujica was sensational in relief, fanning five in four hitless innings. Jose Cruz tripled and Brandon Pinckney, Luis Hodge, and Teodoro Encarnacion singled. Chris Clem, Junior Garcia, and Mujica committed errors.

The Indians fell five games off the pace after being blanked 4-0 by Elizabethtown on Friday. Argenis Reyes and Teodoro Encarnacion each singled with Reyes walking twice and Teo walking twice. Dan Cevette (2-5, 3.71) threw three innings of shutout ball before allowing three runs in the 4th inning. Matt Haynes (2.84) fanned three in two innings of scoreless relief.
