Shapiro Sends Two To Padres For Barfield Premium Story

Indians general manager Mark Shapiro moved quickly to fill a club need by acquiring second baseman Josh Barfield from the San Diego Padres in the first major trade of the offseason. Dealt away were third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff and right-hander Andrew Brown -- players who likely were not going to play in Cleveland in 2007 -- for Barfield, now slated to be the Indians' everyday second baseman.
