The Indians uncharacteristically traded prospects for a veteran talent last New Year's Eve -- when it was thought Cleveland could contend in the AL Central. General manager Mark Shapiro traded three young pitchers to the Chicago Cubs for Mark DeRosa. It gave manager Eric Wedge lineup flexibility as DeRosa could play almost anywhere. And he could hit. But on June 27, he was traded to St. Louis.
