Pitched for the National Taiwan College of Physical Education in 2005 and 2006, going a combined 14-0. In 2006 for his college team, he was 7-0 with a 0.36 ERA, allowing only 29 hits and eight walks over 73 2/3 innings, striking out 73. ... Pitched in one game for his native Chinese Taipei in the 2006 World Baseball Classic in March. ... On July 4, 2006, pitching for his national team against Team USA, he went five shutout innings, allowing two hits, no walk and striking out four the top college players in America. ... Went 3-1 with a 2.06 ERA in 10 games in the Alaskan Summer League in 2005.
