Drafted by Cleveland in the 29th round, 2007.
Came back from off-season shoulder surgery to have a good season at Cal State-Chico in 2007, going 4-1 with a 2.06 ERA in 10 games, including six starts. He got stronger as the season went on, pitching a two-hit shutout in the NCAA Tournament over Nebraska-Kearney in his final college game.
In 20 2/3 innings in the tournament, he went 2-0 with a 1.31 ERA. In his first start of the season on April 7, he allowed only two hits over six scoreless innings. ... In 2006, he went 4-2 with a 3.08 ERA in 13 games, including 11 starts.
