Played one season at South Carolina, but was dismissed from the team and university after being involved in a theft of items from school offices. Received six months probation for incident. ... In one season (2008) at Pitt Community College in Greenville, N.C., hit 410 with eight homers and 66 RBI. ... He was an all-state pick in 2005 and 2006 at West Carteret High School in Morehead City, N.C., batting .574 as a senior.
