Preston Guilmet struck out 10 and allowed only one hit over five impressive innings as Mahoning Valley rolled to a 9-0 win at Vermont.
Guilmet (5-2, 2.72 ERA) also walked one, continuing a fine first pro season since being drafted in the ninth round by the Indians in June. The product of the University of Arizona has made 10 starts and worked 49 2-3 innings, allowing 39 hits, 12 walks, and striking out 45.
Two other June draft picks closed out the combined two-hitter. Austin Adams worked three hitless innings, walking three and striking out two. Antwonie Hubbard gave up one hit and struck out the side in the ninth.
