Lou Marson Profile

Lou Marson and Andy Cannizaro each had three hits and Matt LaPorta drove in three runs, but Columbus lost to Buffalo 12-8.

Marson (.292) had three singles and scored once. Since being acquired in a trade from the Philadelphia Phillies organization in the last week of July, the catcher has hit .280 (7-for-25) with two runs, three walks three strikeouts.

Marson is expected to compete for a job with the Cleveland Indians in 2010 and may be one of the players called up when the Clippers end their Triple-A season this year.

LaPorta (.297) is sure to be called to Cleveland. He made his MLB debut with the Indians a couple of months ago and was sent back to Columbus to work on playing first base. Considered the key player from Cleveland's point of view in the deal that sent CC Sabathia to Milwaukee for four players in July 2008, LaPorta went 2-for-5, hitting a two-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning on Sunday.

LaPorta has 14 homers, 56 RBI, 22 doubles and 57 runs in his first season at Triple-A. He's played 44 games in the outfield and 40 at first base, making nine errors.
