2B Karexon Sanchez: Bouncing back by Chuck Murr of IndiansInk.net, August 11, 2009 at 12:45am ET
Karexon Sanchez Profile
Karexon Sanchez hit a three-run homer to help Lake County to an 8-2 win over visiting Augusta.
Sanchez (.239) went 2-for-4 and also doubled. His three-run homer, ninth of the season, came during a five-run first inning.
Sanchez is heating up again after a very poor July. After being named MVP of the Class A South Atlantic League All-Star Game, the switch-hitting infielder went into a slump. In his last three games, however, the 21-year-old has hit .500 (6-for-12) with four runs and six RBI.
Sanchez has a chance to be a major-league, but must avoid these prolonged slumps. Every year, he hits well for a month of two and then goes into a frustrating funk, which usually coincides with him trying to swing for the fences.
He's struggled to hit from the right side this year, going only 16-for-87 (.184), but even his .256 average against right-handed pitching is not good enough.
Sanchez has 25 stolen bases already this year and when he is on his game, presents a good combination of speed on the bases, pop at the plate, and good glovework in the field. The only thing that seems consistent about his game is his inconsistency.
