Kyle Bellows hit his seventh homer and got his seventh stolen base for Mahoning Valley in a 4-2 loss to visiting Brooklyn.
Bellows (.236) hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning and the Scrappers took a 2-1 lead into the ninth, where Guido Fonseca (1-2, 4.88) blew the save by giving up three runs (two earned).
Bellows has shown potential as a good all-around player since being drafted in June by the Indians. A shortstop in college, he has been moved to third base and doing well under the tutelage of manager Travis Fryman, who made a similar switch midway through his career with the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland.
