Chris Jones struck out seven over 5 1-3 scoreless innings of relief, but Lake County closer Steve Smith blew the save in the ninth inning and the Captains lost to visiting Augusta, 4-3.

Jones (4.07 ERA) walked one and allowed four hits in relief of starter Nick Hagadone (2.93 ERA), the left-hander who was one of three pitchers acquired by the Cleveland Indians in the trade that sent all-star catcher Victor Martinez to Boston.

Hagadone gave up two runs on two walks and one hit over 2 2-3 innings, striking out three. It was his second appearance for the Captains and gave him a 4.76 ERA in 5 2-3 innings since the trade.

Smith (2-3, 2.35 ERA) didn't have it for one of the few times this season. The right-hander gave up two runs and two hits to suffer only his second blown save in 22 chances.
