Catcher Carlos Santana and right-hander Jeanmar Gomez of the Akron Aeros have been named to the Double-A Eastern League season-ending All-Star team.
Santana, who entered this year as No. 2 in the annual Indians Ink list of top 100 prospects in the Cleveland organization, is batting .285 entering play Friday night.

The switch-hitter ranks second in the league with 21 home runs and 89 RBI, third with a .410 on-base percentage, is tied for third with 50 extra-base hits, and fourth with both a .523 slugging percentage and 82 runs.

He has set an Aeros single-season record with 84 walks and needs one RBI to become only the third player in team history to drive in 90 runs in a season.

Santana and Gomez also were named to the Southern Division squad for the 2009 Eastern League All-Star Game. Santana was the starting catcher in that game and was also a member of the World Team for the 2009 Futures Game.
