Jerad Head Profile
Jerad Head drove in four runs to help Akron to a 13-3 home win over Binghamton. The Aeros need one more win or a loss by Reading to clinch the regular season title in the Southern Division of the Double-A Eastern League.
Head (.285) went 3-for-4 with two doubles and scored twice. The jack-of-all-trades played right field and continued a recent hot streak at the plate. In his last 10 games, the 26-year-old has hit .344.
Head has played every position except catcher as a professional -- and two years ago was working out at that spot during spring training. He has seen the most action in right (94 games) and third base (90), but also played left field (40 games), second base (38), first base (22), shortstop (4), center field (3) and pitcher (1) while occasionally serving as the designated hitter and being a pinch-hitter, too.
In 91 games overall this year, Head has 22 doubles, one triple, six homers, 41 RBI and has scored 47 runs.
Matt McBride (.249) and Carlos Rivero (.239) also had three hits apiece. The first four batters in Akron's lineup -- Jose Constanza (.278), Josh Rodriguez (.247), Carlos Santana (.287) and Beau Mills (.264) -- each had two hits. Constanza also got his team-leading 40th stolen base.
