Beau Mills hit a two-run double in the 12th inning to help Akron to a 6-3 win at Altoona.

Mills (.264) had a sacrifice fly earlier in the game and finished with three RBI, giving him 80 for the season.

Josh Rodriguez (.256) started the winning rally by reaching on an infield single with one out. Carlos Santana (.290) walked and manager Mike Sarbaugh replaced Rodriguez with pinch-runner Cristo Arnal at second. Rodriguez recently returned to action after missing 100 games with a hamstring injury.

Mills then lined a double to put the Aeros ahead, 5-3, going to third on the late throw home. Mills scored on a sacrifice fly by Matt McBride (.247).

Akron leadoff man Jose Constanza (.276) went 0-for-3, but drew three walks, scored once and got two more stolen bases, giving him 43 for the year.

Four Akron relievers allowed only one hit over the final seven innings. Starter Connor Graham (5.13 ERA) gave up three runs over five innings, striking out six. Zach Putnam (4.28 ERA) fanned four over two hitless innings and Neil Wagner (2.90 ERA) struck out two over two perfect innings.

Brian Grening (1-0) yielded a hit and walk, fanning two, over two innings for the win. Josh Judy (3.23 ERA) then fanned one in a perfect bottom of the 12th for his 10th save.

Drafted by Boston in 44th round, 2004 ... drafted by Cleveland in first round (No. 13 overall), in 2007.

Son of Brad Mills, former major-leaguer and current bench coach with Boston Red Sox. ... Helped Lewis-Clark State (Lewiston, Idaho) win the 2007 NAIA Championship, getting three homers and eight RBI in the title game. ... Overall, he hit .458 (110-for-240) with 100 runs, 22 doubles, one triple, 38 homers, 123 RBI and six stolen bases in 62 games and was named the NAIA Player of the Year. ... Played two years at Fresno State before transferring ... Batted .319 with 22 homers and 63 RBI in 59 games as a freshman. As a sophomore with the Bulldogs, hit .355 with 20 doubles, 14 homers and 58 RBI in 52 games.
