Steve Smith worked a scoreless ninth inning to get his 26th save as Lake County won at Delmarva, 3-1.

Smith (2.36 ERA) struck out one in working a perfect ninth. In 47 games for the Captains, he has fanned 62 and walked only 12 in 53 1-3 innings. In 26 outings since the All-Star break, he has a 1.61 ERA and 15 saves.

The right-hander was a 25th-round pick by the Indians in 2008. Including 16 games with the Gulf Coast League Indians a year ago, the 23-year-old has registered 92 strikeouts and walked only 17 in 77 2-3 innings as a professional.

Travis Turek (2-3, 2.72 ERA) gave up one run over three innings of relief and got the win. Matt Langwell (1.96 ERA) worked a perfect eighth in a setup role.

Starter Kaimi Mead (3.73 ERA) pitched four shutout innings, striking out three.

Second baseman Karexon Sanchez (.240) hit a two-run homer, his 11th, for the Captains.

Drafted by Cleveland in the 25th round, 2008.

Went 10-1 with a 2.00 ERA and three saves as a senior in 2008 at Ouachita Baptist. In 22 games, including 18 starts, he pitched 130 1/3 innings, giving up 103 hits and 33 walks while striking out 143. ... Fanned 14 in an NCAA Regional Tournament victory. ... In 2007, went 8-2 with a 3.50 ERA in 11 games, all starts, striking out 59 in 69 1/3 innings.

Had a 1-1 record, two saves and 2.59 ERA in 16 games including two starts in 2008 for the Gulf Coast League Indians. In 24 1-3 innings, allowed 16 hits and five walks, striking out 30.
