Neil Wagner pitched two innings to earn his first win in 46 relief outings this year as Akron defeated Erie in 10 innings, 5-4.
Wagner (1-3, 2.95 ERA) gave up a run in the top of the 10th, but John Drennen (.267) hit a two-out, two-run homer in the bottom half to win it. Drennen went 3-for-5 with his fifth triple and fifth homer of the season.
Wagner allowed four hits and struck out four. In his previous nine games, the hard-throwing right-hander had given up only one run and four hits over 11 2-3 innings, an 0.77 ERA.
Overall this year, the 25-year-old has two saves and fanned 69 in 61 innings, walking 32 and giving up only 48 hits.
