Armando Camacaro Profile
Armando Camacaro scored from first base on a stunning steal of second and two errors to give the Akron Aeros a 4-3 win over Erie.
The Aeros moved 35 games over .500 at 88-53 with their seventh straight win. They got solo homers from John Drennen (.268), his sixth; Carlos Santana (.289), his 22nd); and Beau Mills (.268), his 14th.
With the score tied at 3, Camacaro lined a two-out single to center in the seventh inning -- then surprisingly took off for second base, seeking his first steal of the season. As he slid into the bag, the catcher's throw sailed into center field, so the 30-year-old got up and headed towards third -- where the center-fielder's throw was wild, allowing Camacaro to trot home with the go-ahead run.
It was the 30-year-old Camacaro's 32nd stolen base in 12 years in the minors and only his eighth in the last six seasons.
Carlton Smith (6-2, 2.72 ERA) earned the win in relief. Steven Wright (2.32 ERA) struck out two over one perfect inning and Josh Judy (3.10 ERA) fanned two in a perfect ninth inning for his 11th save.
Drennen's homer was his second in two nights.
