Matt Packer Profile
Matt Packer worked two hitless innings -- the only one of five pitchers used by Cleveland to do well -- in a 10-5 loss to the Texas Rangers in the Arizona Instructional League.

Packer, picked in the 32nd round in June, threw first-pitch strikes to five of the six men he faced, fanning two.
The left-hander had a good pro debut season in limited action at Mahoning Valley this summer, striking out 13 and walking only one in 11 1-3 innings pitched over five relief outings. He gave up eight hits and three runs (2.38 ERA) for the Scrappers.
Michael Rayl, Jose Campos, Joseph Coon and Kirk Wetmore didn't pitch as well in the game in Arizona. Rayl allowed three runs on two walks and one hit over two innings; Campos yielded two walks, one hit and one run over an inning; Colon gave up three hits, three walks, four runs (two earned) over two innings) and Wetmore walked three while allowing one hit and two runs (one earned) over two innings.
The unearned runs came after errors by shortstop Kevin Fontanez and left fielder Trent Baker, respectively.
Of the five pitchers used, Packer had the top clocking, reaching 91 mph. Wetmore struggled with his early command, making first-pitch strikes to only three of nine men faced. Campos was the softest tosser overall, averaging 84 mph on his 30 pitches, while Campos was fastest overall with an average speed of 89 mph on his 40 pitches.
