Austin Adams Profile

Austin Adams had a very impressive performance for the Indians' team in the Arizona Instructional League -- fanning four over two scoreless innings of relief.

Adams, picked in the fifth round in June, was primarily a shortstop at Faulkner College, but the Indians liked what they saw when he sometimes worked as a pitcher.

In a 5-1 loss to Peoria of the Arizona Fall League on Monday, the 23-year-old right-hander threw first-pitch strikes to seven of the eight men he faced, allowed only one hit, and topped out at 95 mph on the radar gun.

Adams has seen a lot of work this fall after going 3-1 with one save and a 4.86 ERA in 17 relief appearances for Mahoning Valley this summer.
