51 Carlton Smith Born: Jan. 26, 1986, in Plainfield, NJ Position: Pitcher B/T: R/R HT/WT: 6-2/205 Acquired: 21st-round pick in 2004 Draft from Piscataway (NJ) HS. Strengths: Two-seam fastball in the 90-93 mph range serves as his sinker and is his best pitch. Gets a lot of ground balls when the sinker is working. Has life on his 92-93 mph four-seam fastball.
