There are some tight roster crunches throughout the organization, but none more so than the bullpen as the Indians are very crowded there at the moment which could have a domino effect throughout the organization with relievers opening the 2013 season in the same place they pitched in 2012 and even 2011. Barring any trades, the Indians will likely have to send one or two pitchers to Triple-A Columbus who deserve to be in Cleveland. The lineups are much easier to project all the way down to Lake County, but the bullpens and starting rotations are really tough to nail down because the Indians do not have very many established starting pitching prospects from Triple-A Columbus to Lake County, so a great many could end up in the bullpen or repeat at the same level as last season.
This depth chart will be modified several times over the next several weeks, especially at High-A Carolina and Lake County where names will be moved in and out of the pitching staffs between the two affiliates as well as extended spring training. Speaking of extended spring training, the listing also includes most of the players that should play in those games from April to June before short season leagues kick up in mid-June.
Here is the depth chart: http://www.indiansbaseballinsider.com/depth-chart
As always, the link to the depth chart is found in the tab below the site header and will be updated quite frequently over the next few weeks in advance of spring training. It will continue to be updated during spring training, and once rosters are set at the end of spring training it will be updated daily as player movement occurs throughout the system. Myself and the great transaction extraordinaire Arthur Kinney will be updating it all season.
Obviously, there is more context to the designations listed, so if you have a question why a certain player is assigned where, please ask accordingly in the comments section and I will provide the reasoning. Thanks!
