Another Honor For Peralta
Peralta is the youngest man on the squad at age 22, while Young, 35, in his 15th pro season, is the oldest.
Last week, Peralta was named the MVP of the International League by Topps. He and Young helped the Bisons win the league championship.
Half of the team are 25 or younger. Johnson, outfielder Jason Kubel and second baseman Chris Burke were Triple-A rookies, while Peralta, outfielder Matt Diaz and third baseman Garrett Atkins had one season or less at the top minor-league level. Kubel, also 22, had never played above Class A until this season and finished the season in the majors with the Minnesota Twins.
It was the second year in a row that Johnson was honored by Topps. He was on the Double-A All-Star team in 2003 while playing in the Texas League for Midland. Atkins had been named to the 2000 Topps' Short Season-A/Rookie squad while earning Player of the Year honors with Portland of the Northwest League.
