Homers Help Clippers To 6-3 Win

Matt LaPorta ... batting .404.

Luis Valbuena hit a two-run homer and Matt LaPorta had a solo shot Saturday night to help power Columbus to a 6-3 win over visiting Indianapolis. David Huff pitched six innings for the win and veteran Matt Herges, the fourth pitcher used by Clippers manager Torey Lovullo, worked the ninth for his third save. LaPorta also had an RBI triple and went 3-for-3 with a walk to put his average at .404.

Michael Brantley (.235) singled to open the Clippers' first inning and stole second. He went to third on a single by David Dellucci (.400) and scored when Wes Hodges (.246) hit into a double play.

LaPorta walked and Valbuena followed with his second homer for a 3-0 lead.

Huff gave up back-to-back homers in the top of the second, the first one a two-run shot, as the Indians tied the score at 3.

Stephen Head (.239) doubled and scored on a single by Dellucci in the second to put Columbus ahead, 4-3.

LaPorta's fifth homer of the season made it 5-3 in the fifth. The big guy tripled home Hodges, who had singled, in the seventh for a 6-3 lead.
